How the job runs
The order matters more than most people expect — several of these steps stop the one after it going wrong.
Clear the area
Cars, pots, furniture and bins moved off. We'll tell you what needs shifting before the day so nothing holds the job up.
Deal with the weeds and moss
Growth in the joints gets taken out rather than blasted around, which is what leaves seed spread across the rest of the drive.
Wash at the right pressure for the surface
Block paving, flags, imprinted concrete and tarmac all take different pressure. Tarmac in particular will lift if it's treated like concrete.
Rinse the dirt off the property
The slurry a driveway clean produces has to go somewhere. It gets rinsed away properly rather than left to dry into a grey film across the edges.
Sort the joints out
Washing block paving takes sand out of the joints. Where it needs re-sanding to keep the blocks stable, say so when you enquire so it's in the price.

Before you book
The things worth saying out loud in advance, including what this job can't fix.
Weeds will come back eventually
Seed lands in open joints every year — that's how they got there in the first place. Kept-up joint sand slows it down considerably.
Sealing is a separate conversation
Sealing block paving after a clean can help it stay looking right for longer. It isn't automatically part of the job, so ask when you enquire rather than assume either way.
Loose and lifted blocks
If the drive has sunk, lifted or lost its edging, washing it won't fix that — and heavy pressure on a failing area makes it worse. We'll point it out when we look.

Will pressure washing damage my paving?
Not at the right pressure for the surface. The damage happens when tarmac or imprinted concrete is hit at block-paving pressure, or when a lance is held in one place too long. Matching the two is the job.
Do you re-sand block paving afterwards?
Washing takes sand out of the joints, and it does need replacing to keep the blocks locked together. Raise it when you enquire so it's agreed and priced up front rather than left ambiguous.
How often does a driveway need doing?
Most want it every couple of years. Shaded drives, north-facing ones and anything under trees go green faster and want doing more often.
